![]() ![]() Diablo 3 falls some where in the middle in my opinion.Īctually, less than 1/5 of the team - about ten out of around sixty - went to FSS from blizzard north.Īnd only one of those guys (David Glenn) was an artist or designer that specialized in random backgrounds. ![]() A game that isn't randomized has less replayability but can focus more on detail and will in general work better. The way I see it a randomized game has almost limitless replayability but has to be simplified and occasionally will have issues with the various random sections (like D2's Jail). One thing is for certain, its harder to make a randomized game than just having it set in stone - it just sounds like a nightmare to try to make everything work together. This was in the 80's and I am not an expert programmer so I can't really comment on how hard or easy it is. He said that making the dungeon randomly generated was the hardest part to figure out and program. I recently read a blog from one of the creators of Rogue (forget his name sorry) which to my knowledge was the first game to have the randomized maps. That's just part of the experience and talent that walked out the door a decade ago or so.Īctually, I wonder how the first people in the world managed to make a game with random levels - since you seem to be implying that it can't be done if you haven't already done it. No one on the team has any significant experience on a title with random levels. ![]()
